The Liberty Dog Network was founded in March 2022 and is a foster-based rescue. I have rescued dogs at various shelters across the Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties.
Being a foster for a dog right now literally saves their life.
Shelters are euthanizing dogs at astronomical rates. The only way to help combat that is to organize an exit plan for as many dogs as we safely can.
Foster families are the most important part of this equation right now. Foster dog families are needed across Southern California. Please apply to be a foster for a dog in need today!
Organizations like The 4-H club, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, Adventure Scouts, etc., love when people volunteer to speak to their members. Another idea might be to arrange for a local rescue to talk about what they do to your child's class at school.
Start with the people in your own network. Your child's sports coach, dance teacher, neighbor, etc. You would be surprised how many people are willing to explore the idea of fostering a dog!
Posting informational blurbs on social media goes a long way. Contact a more exclusive network by using local apps like the Next-door application which connects you to people in your neighborhood and surrounding areas.
Encourage people to volunteer at a shelter. Every shelter is short-staffed right now due to the recent pandemic. Every dog needs a walk.
Do a donation box at churches or pre-schools for shelters in need (get permission first). Items like towels, toys, bones, balls, leashes, collars, etc. could potentially be donated.
